5 ways to prevent your car from over heating

Over heating could signal several things, but most times it is as a result of an overworked engine or could be that the cooling system of the car is damaged, or maybe a combination of several faults.
Overheating should not be treated as a normal car condition and should not be managed, as most cars will often experience overheating especially in hot climate regions like Nigeria.
It is however, important to know how to prevent your cars from overheating, as it will save you a lot of money on maintenance and in some cases save lives as well.
So here are 5 tips, if observed will prevent your car from ovoverheating.
1: Check your car's coolant and radiator regularly
Regularly checking your car's coolant and radiator is an effective way of preventing constant car overheating. It is effective because regular check will make you aware of the condition of your car generally and the particularly the condition of the radiator.
2: Leave your car window slightly open
Leaving your car window slightly open, especially while parked, can help prevent the accumulation of hot air which can lead to overheating. A slightly opened window will allow circulation of air and in flow of cool air into the car, thereby preventing the overheating and the damages that comes with it.
3: Regularly check out your radiator cap
An overwhelming number of drivers do not realize the important responsibility the radiator cap has on their vehicle. The radiator cap helps in preventing your car from overheating, by maintaining the pressure in the system. It is also advisable to hire an experienced and well trained mechanic to inspect your radiator cap and ensure that it is functioning properly.
4: Regularly inspect your vehicle's serpentine belt
The serpentine belt is a very important component of your vehicle as it plays a huge role in maintaining and regulating your car temperature. If the serpentine belt breaks, your engine will overheat almost immediately, as if the belt is not functioning properly, neither will your car's water pump, and as a result affect the performance of the car coolant system.
5: Ensure you have spare coolant in your car
In most cases, the main cause of car overheating is when the coolant system is running low or depleting in performance and efficiency. As a result, making it crucial to ensure that you have extra coolant and water in your car in case you experience car overheating while on a long road trip.
